Wood Dowel Tree
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Our Dowel Tree makers are moving -- and moving their workshop! We are super excited for them, but it also means we will not be shipping Wood Dowel Trees until November. We do have a limited number of Dowel Trees available -- not in all sizes and colors -- and we will fill the orders we can from this prepared lot. .
NEW THIS YEAR! Distressed white Wood Dowel Tree with Gold Star and Base!
These Wood Dowel Trees are fabulous for ornament display or to follow the old Pennsylvania Dutch tradition of hanging decorated cookies from the tree. Or make a great Family Tree display, with photo ornaments for each generation.
The simple but elegant design works with traditional, country, primitive or modern decor.
Our Wood Dowel Tree is based on the one seen on p. 11 of the 2019 Mooresville Mercantile Holiday Catalog. That original was made in 2002 by Robert Shaeff and sold through Early American Life magazine. We had such a wonderful response to the catalog photo and so many requests for the tree, that Bob gave us permission to reproduce his original design. Alex and Cate Schilloff of Athens, Alabama, accepted the challenge, carefully studied the ones we have and then created these trees for us. (Cate is the creative genius behind our beautiful catalogs.)
These trees feature a star on top and a square wood base. Your choice of natural wood (with natural star) or rich green paint with mustard gold painted star or our newest version, distressed white with gold star. ($5 extra for paint finish). Two sizes available: Tall (36" tall, with graduated tiers of 22", 18", 14" and 10") or Medium (28" tall, with tiers of 18", 14" and 10"). Please note since each is made by hand, size will vary slightly.
Each tree comes with a set of beeswax candles made for this project. (Replacement candles available.)
Minimum assembly required. Arms are not removable for safety reasons when candles are installed. Ornaments, cookies, other decorations not included. NEVER LEAVE LIGHTED CANDLES UNATTENDED.
For fun, we included a not-so-great photo of the original tree listing in Early American Life's 2002 Christmas edition, as well as the catalog photo (shown with a different base and star).
PLEASE NOTE: Trees are made when ordered. Expect a longer shipping time.
